Position Summary: The Human Resources Manager, under the direction of the Chief Financial/Administrative Officer, and with accountability to the leadership team, is responsible for the administration and implementation of all HR functions to include: recruitment and retention, compensation and benefits, legal compliance, employee relations, and performance management. The HR Manager will be a visible and approachable team member who will ensure all HR functions promote an engaged and productive work environment.


Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate the recruiting and selection process for all levels of employment candidates using innovative methods to source and attract top talent
  • Facilitate the onboarding, training, performance management and separation policies and procedures
  • Guide Managers and Directors on completing timely effective employee evaluations
  • Deliver professional development opportunities that foster increased capacity and that build employee morale and mission engagement
  • Present and promote changes in HR policies, procedures and practices to the leadership team, leveraging best practices research
  • Keep the Leadership Team and Managers informed of legal changes and HR best practices
  • Administer the health and welfare benefits, serving as communication lead for benefit changes and announcements
  • Coordinate the workers compensation plan and ensure all OSHA regulations are met and documented
  • Mediate and resolve employee relations issues and concerns with managers and directors
  • Supervise and assist employee documentation and proper record keeping, including time and attendance such as FMLA and PTO
  • Serve as the employee handbook expert, explaining policies and procedures when needed
  • Supervise and assist processing payroll for assigned employees ensuring hours are coded to the appropriate grants and cost centers
  • Attend all required staff meetings and trainings and take on other duties as assigned
  • Support the mission of GCYC and serve as a role model for the youth and community

 

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related field of study, SPHR certification preferred
  • At least 5 years of Human Resources generalist experience  (previous HR experience in a community based nonprofit preferred)
  • Demonstrated track record of executing all HR functions and current knowledge of legal issues in HR with the ability to teach and train others
  • Ability to build trust and credibility among the work force, along with ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters with integrity
  • Skilled in mediation and conflict resolution used to prevent and resolve employee concerns
  • Competency in working with MS Office and HRIS systems
  • Excellent time management and communication skills
  • Demonstrated cultural competency for the youth and community serviced on the Campus
